Sorobon Beach, located on the east side of Bonaire as part of Lac Bay, is one of the island’s best snorkeling spots. The shallow waters are perfect for snorkeling from the shore, making it ideal for beginners and families. It’s just an 11-minute drive from Villa Mi Casa Bonaire.
2. Andrea I & II
These two nearby snorkeling spots are easily accessible from the shore and feature beautiful reefs with a rich variety of marine life, including parrotfish, seahorses, and colorful coral. They are located just an 18-minute drive from our villa.
3. Te Amo Beach
Te Amo Beach, located near the airport, offers easy access to the sea. It’s a great spot for a relaxed snorkeling experience, with a sandy bottom and several coral formations where you can see large schools of fish. Te Amo Beach is within walking distance (1.7 kilometers) from our villa.
4. 1000 steps
Despite the name, there are only 67 steps leading down to a beautiful beach and a truly spectacular underwater world. When you snorkel here, you’ll encounter turtles and moray eels. 1000 Steps is a 22-minute drive from Mi Casa.
5. Salt Pier
Discover Salt Pier, a snorkeling paradise filled with vibrant corals and tropical fish. Enjoy the rich marine life and snorkel alongside turtles and stingrays.
Note: If you plan to snorkel here, check if there is a boat docked. Snorkeling is prohibited when a boat is present. Salt Pier is a 6-minute drive from our villa.
6. Bari Reef
Bari Reef is another top snorkeling destination on Bonaire (it’s also excellent for diving). The coral reef is incredibly colorful and renowned for its biodiversity. Here, you can spot various fish species, including parrotfish and angelfish.

7. Klein Bonaire
Located 10 to 15 minutes by boat from Kralendijk, this uninhabited island offers crystal-clear waters with stunning coral reefs, teeming with colorful fish, sea turtles, and manta rays. If you enjoy tranquility and nature, this “uninhabited” island is highly recommended. You can rent a boat in Kralendijk or arrange a trip with one of the local rental organizations to get you to Klein Bonaire..
8. No Name Beach
No Name Beach, located on Klein Bonaire, is renowned for its diverse and colorful underwater life. You can see a variety of corals, sponges, and sea anemones, as well as numerous tropical fish species such as parrotfish, sunfish, trumpetfish, and butterflyfish.

Tips for a safe snorkeling adventure
- Ensure that your snorkeling equipment fits well and functions properly. A poorly fitting mask can leak, and a defective snorkel can obstruct your breathing. Always check your equipment before entering the water
- While snorkeling, you will often be exposed to the sun’s UV rays. To protect yourself, consider wearing a rash guard or wetsuit. Don’t forget to apply waterproof sunscreen!
- Some snorkeling locations may have strong currents. It’s important to be aware of the current conditions and avoid swimming too far from the shore
- Avoid contact with coral and sea urchins. Coral can be very sharp, and sea urchin spines can cause injuries. Coral may also contain toxins that can lead to infections if you get injured
- Although most marine creatures are harmless, some can pose a risk, such as fire worms and certain types of jellyfish. Do not touch marine life and be careful where you place your hands and feet
