How long is the drive from Flamingo Airport?

About five minutes, just under three kilometres south along the boulevard. Bonaire has only one airport, so you are at the house quickly.

How far is the nearest supermarket?

The large supermarkets are on the edge of Kralendijk, about eight minutes by car. For a week's stay you can do all your shopping there in one go.

Can I get into the water from the house?

Yes. Private stone steps lead from the garden into the water, and the reef starts just off the shore. There is an outdoor rinse point for your dive gear. For the marine park, arrange the STINAPA nature fee online before you arrive.

What kind of neighbourhood is Belnem?

A quiet residential stretch along a single coastal boulevard, with no hotels, beach clubs or through traffic. Kralendijk and the south are both a quarter of an hour away, so you are close to everything without living in the middle of it.

On the south-west coast at Punt Vierkant

Villa Mi Casa Bonaire stands on EEG Boulevard in Belnem, close to the Punt Vierkant lighthouse. The house faces the Caribbean Sea across its full width and its own stone steps take you straight into the water.

Belnem lies between the airport and the open south. Flamingo Airport is five minutes away, Kralendijk ten and the salt pans a quarter of an hour. Everything you might want to do in a day sits on a single route.

Belnem and Punt Vierkant

Belnem is a quiet residential stretch on the south-west coast, with low houses along a single boulevard and the sea across the road. There are no hotels, no beach clubs and no through traffic. What you hear is the trade wind and the water against the rocks.

The Punt Vierkant lighthouse is a five minute walk away. From there the coast road runs south past Bachelor's Beach and Te Amo Beach towards the salt pans. Along that whole coast, yellow stones mark the official dive sites of the marine park.

The island's only airport. You pick up your rental car in the arrivals hall and drive south along the boulevard.

The white lighthouse marking the point. A short walk along the water, best towards sunset.

Bachelor's Beach

About 1 km, a fifteen minute walk

A small sandy cove with steps into the water and a reef that starts just off the shore.

Supermarket in Kralendijk

About 4 km, an 8 minute drive

The large supermarkets sit on the edge of Kralendijk. Enough choice to stock up for a full week.

Kralendijk town centre

About 5 km, a 10 minute drive

Waterfront restaurants, small shops and the jetty for the water taxi to Klein Bonaire.

Te Amo Beach

About 2.5 km, a 5 minute drive

Shallow water and a wide view towards the airport. A favourite for sitting low with a book.

Lac Bay and Sorobon

About 8 km, a 15 minute drive

The shallow bay on the east side, home to windsurfers and wingfoilers. There are schools for every level.

The salt pans and Pink Beach

About 10 km, a 15 minute drive

White salt mountains, pink water and the flamingos that breed there. The coast road out is the finest drive on the island.

Washington Slagbaai Park

About 25 km, a 40 minute drive

The national park in the north, with rugged coast and viewpoints. Go early and bring water.
